Green Jade Jewelry from Peggy Li Creations

A plethora of handmade jewelry items featuring green jade! Rough hewn jade chunks in a deep green are almost like a neutral. Or, choose flat tumbled stones for a more elegant look. I'd pair these jade jewelry pieces with khaki, browns, blacks and vibrant orange/reds. Think safari-inspired! These stones can hold up to a bolder look and are cut in big, bolder pieces. Love it.

For their mystical quality, Jade is considered to promote peace and balance to the wearer. Who wouldn't want more balance and serentity in their lives?

My Jade Disk necklace was used in the movie "Superbad", worn by Martha MacIsaac as "Becca". I think necklaces featuring natural materials like leather are making a comeback for summer -- what do you think?

All About Aquamarine

All About Aquamarine
All About Aquamarine by Peggy Li on Polyvore.com

I've noticed a lot of searches on my handmade jewelry site recently for "Aquamarine" -- and why not? This beautiful semi-precious stone is the color of water, a clean fresh blue gemstone perfect for Spring and Summer fashion! So... the featured gemstone this month -- Aquamarine! In crytal lore, aquamarines are said to instill courage, attract friends, and aid in communication. I am an aquamarine horder, I have tons of stones just waiting to be transformed into jewelry pieces... what are you hoping to find? Do you prefer cut stones or smooth tumbled nuggets? I'm traveling to the Tucson Gem Show this year, and I've got to create my shopping list!

Check out these handmade jewelry styles featuring aquamarine stones in earrings and necklaces at http://www.peggyli.com

. I especially love the serenity of the Lotus Charm Necklace with aquamarine and the slinky elegance of the Shimmery Discs Necklace.

Getting Ready for Tucscon 2011

It's only about 2 weeks until I'll be traveling to Tucscon for my first-ever Tucson Gem Show experience. I pre-registered for most of the shows I wanted to attend, bought a travel book and have even started making restaurant reservations. I of course booked my hotel and plane ticket many months in advance.

Now, on a whim I decided to check my hotel booking to confirm my dates and reservation online. Imagine my surprise when it was marked cancelled! Well, after a few phone calls of me in near-panic, it turns out my hotel changed ownership and failed to transfer my reservation. Luckily, Jamie from the Sheraton was helpful enough to re-book my room, and at the original rate I had booked. Whew!

Just goes to show that you can never be too prepared.

So, the Tucson preparation continues! Do you have any restaurant recommendations? Must-see shops? Favorite golf courses (I'll be bringing my clubs!)?

In the meantime, check out this old post about tips and hints for attending Gem Shows.

Some additional tips for navigating a gem show:

1) Bring a sharpie with you to mark vendor names/prices on bags.
2) Bring a notebook and pen to keep track of your finds before you want to buy them.
3) Create labels that contain your address and resale number to make checkouts faster.
4) Wear a secure purse (zippers!) that you can sling across your body to allow for hands-free (but stay aware of your surroundings).
5) Bring a little mirror with you --- vendors don't often have them, or they are always with someone else!

Also check out Nina Designs' blog for other handy Shopping at Tucson tips.

That's all for now!

Handmade Jewelry by Peggy Li and Elizabeth Anne Designs

I am very pleased to announce that Peggy Li Creations has been listed as a vendor on the Elizabeth Anne Designs wedding blog! This wonderful blog is filled with photos, vendor listings, DIY ideas and overall inspiration for the bride-to-be. There are also sections divided out by regions, so you can have even more context to your wedding ideas.

Based out of Chicago, the Editor and Publisher Ami Price is not only passionate about design and crafts, but also shares her blogging knowledge on tip site Edit and Post.

I think both sites are very cool and filled with information. And the photos? Amazing! I'll definitely be browsing through the "real weddings" posts and galleries to see what fab colors are inspiring brides today to help me create my bridal jewelry collections.

Thanks Ami!

Private Practice Jewelry 1/6/11

Ah, the holidays are over and we're in a new year (hello, 2011!), and best of all, TV shows are back! I've been watching a ton of Top Chef All-Stars, What Not to Wear (yes, a steady diet of reality TV) plus new show "Are We There Yet?" and oldies "Private Practice" to try and spot some PLCs!

This week's episode of Private Practice, "If you don't know me by now", Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald) wears my Bubble Earrings in white pearl! Audra always looks so put together and classically elegant in smart suit separates and dresses. My simple gemstone and pearl jewelry always looks clean and fresh with her gorgeous skintone and classy style!

Happy New Year!
