Emily Morse Wears Peggy Li Creations Jewelry

Emily Morse, TV star, author and sexpert -- just tweeted me this amazing photo of herself wearing some of her favorite Peggy Li Creations Jewelry. OMG, doesn't she look amazing? Emily has been touring, lending her Sex With Emily expertise to iVillage, radio, TV and more! You may have caught Emily on Bravo TV's show MissAdvised, which aired last year (and featured Emily in our mutual home town, San Francisco).

Emily is wearing her favorite Geo Shape Necklace in Triangle, the Aztec Spike Earrings, and the Hammered Bangle Trio (with oxidized silver), all in 14k gold-filled.
Catch Emily on The Jeff Probst show or on her website/radio show, Sex With Emily (yes, adult topics on this website)!  See a previous post about Emily as Style Inspiration.

Recap: San Jose Made Holiday 2012

My first time selling Peggy Li Creations jewelry in the South Bay at the San Jose Made for Holiday 2012 was a great experience! The event was held on Saturday, December 1st at the San Pedro Market Square. I had never been to this venue, which is located in an area of San Jose that had tons of shops and restaurants. There was a huge parking garage located across the street (yay!) that had all-day parking on the weekends for $5 (free with shop validation, double yay!).
Booth ready to go!

San Pedro Market Square had a farmer's market and food trucks parked outside its two pavilions  with outdoor picnic seating between. A very fun space, I understand that they often have live music and other events at the venue on a regular basis. Filled with local shops and food vendors, the place had a great vibe and industrial feel. I was lucky to be placed in a room that had huge industrial doors/windows and a drip coffee bar.

This patron sported his Return of the Jedi lunchbox -- classic.
The foot traffic was steady all day, despite the occasional rain. Of course had to sample the food (and beer) which was outstanding! Faves were the chicken and waffle cone from The Chef Counter, the Diavola pizza at Bocca Lupo and the Alagash white beer at The Bar.

The vendors turned it out as well! I was obsessed with the handmade terrariums from Leandra seated next to  me. I loved her story -- she pulled the succulents from her own garden to create whimsical succulent plant arrangements. She knew each type of plant and how they would grow. So fun!
Terarriums!
Across the way from me were these adorable plush pillows? toys? Doesn't matter. Fun and whimsical. I especially loved the bright orange fox and the crafty masked raccoon.

There you have it! A great day in San Jose. I got to see some long-time customers based in the South Bay (finally!) and discovered a really cool hangout in San Jose. A huge thanks to the organizer Stephanie, all the volunteer helpers, and all the folks who came out to shop!

Review: Tin Shingle Membership

As a small business owner who works from home, I'm always on the lookout for online networking groups and ways to connect with others who are working on businesses like mine. Over the years I've tried different organizations, like Savor the Success, Dreamers into Doers, Project Eve, but in terms of activity and tools, Tin Shingle (previously known as 'Preneur) (http://www.tinshingle.com) has been my favorite.

Tin Shingle offers articles with tons of information on small business topics, including PR, social media, and "Ask the Expert" tips. There are members-only features, including PR leads and forums. While the email list and Facebook groups aren't terribly active, the founders of the site are, sending out email updates with PR leads as well as scheduling dial-in seminars and inviting members to submit questions on PR and website SEO. If you live in NYC, you can also take advantage of live meetups and events.

Based on my own experience with PR and SEO, I've found the tips and resources on Tin Shingle to be on point. Not only that, but the founders are dedicated to small business owners (and are small business owners themselves!). Plus, my former PR firm and some other brands I know and respect (uh, hello, Gemma Redux!) are also members. Read about Sabina, co-founder of Red Branch PR, and Katie Hellmuth Martin here: Tin Shingle Our Team.

Most importantly, Tin Shingle holds live seminars, "PR Tuneups", that give you timely and relevant information for your PR campaigns. If you're interested in DIY PR, I think 'Preneuring is a great place to start and be able to interact with true PR professionals.

Ready to sign up for your own membership? Use code PEGGYLI10 when you sign up to get 10% off your membership! There is a monthly or yearly option. Or, post your questions for me below in the comments, I'm happy to share my experience with Tin Shingle.

Hope to see you on Tin Shingle!

Take the 2012 End of Year Survey

The year 2013 is already here, but I wanted to take a minute to reflect on 2012. This year, I left my part time job to run my handmade jewelry business Peggy Li Creations full-time. This has been wonderful and I've worked so hard to use my time wisely. I have so many ideas and hopes for my business in 2013. This is where you come in. My customers are the reason I'm able to do something I love -- creating jewelry. Your feedback is vital. I'd love to know how you feel about your shopping experience with www.peggyli.com and some of your thoughts on the jewelry and products!

The survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. I read every response, so if you'd like a response to your comments, there is a space to leave your contact information. Click here to take survey.

This is also the year I got engaged to my wonderful, supportive boyfriend, who has encouraged me and supports my business. While this is a very happy time in my life, there are some challenges ahead with my Dad's health. Life can be so strange but I am thankful for everything I do have.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!

xoxo
