Jewelry Worn by Vivian Bang of Sullivan & Son

When I heard about Sullivan & Son, a new TBS TV sitcom produced by Vince Vaughn and starring Steve Byrne, I was intrigued. Mostly because Steve Byrne is known for his stand-up comedy and comedy about his (part) Asian background. Steve's Irish and Korean background is the basis for the show, where Steve takes over his father's bar and has to deal with his (overbearing) Korean mom and reconnect with his sister, Susan (Vivian Bang). This Cheers-for-a-new-generation comedy goes for big laughs and big heart and isn't it about time we put All-American Girl behind us and start seeing some Asian families represented on TV?

I immediately loved Susan, maybe identified with her a little, and really loved her look. While PLC is not really Susan's style, luckily it is Vivian's. I was truly thrilled when actress Vivian Bang accepted a few Peggy Li Creations jewelry pieces to wear!

Elena Necklaces on The Vampire Diaries

I was so thrilled to have jewelry pieces requested by the stylist for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. I was even more excited to see that two necklaces were worn by the lovely and talented Nina Dobrev, who is the heroine of the show. It kind of brings my handmade jewelry, Peggy Li Creations, full circle, since the start of my business was born because of another TV show about teens and vampires, Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

I've been getting quite a few emails lately asking if Ithe gold charm necklace worn by MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer) on HBO show "The Newsroom" is from my line of handmade jewelry, Peggy Li Creations. The short answer is no, I am not. What is the necklace MacKenzie wears on The Newsroom?

The Newsroom necklace is the "Mackenzie" necklace by Dominic Cohen, featuring 5 coin pendants on 20" long chain, all in 18k gold and the price is $1,400. That's probably more than most of us want to spend, so I have a few similar necklaces that are like the Mac necklace for you to try!

Mother's Charm Necklace -- Similar to the MacKenzie necklace, this necklace features your choice of number of 1/2" diameter charms (up to five) that are evenly spaced along your length choice of chain. To get the look of the necklace on The Newsroom, select 5 charms on a 20" long chain with "none" for the initials, so the charms are left blank.  You may also request for the charms to have a hammered finish, which I do by hand, for an even more textured look to the necklace.

Jewelry Seen on Switched at Birth

Switched at Birth is an ABC Family television show about two sisters who were, you guessed it, switched at birth. Bay (Vanessa Marano) grew up with the well-to-do Kennish family while Daphne (Katie LeClerc) grew up with struggling single mom Regina Vasquez. While the story seems to set up a simple premise when the two families decide to live together, this show goes much deeper than you'd expect, exploring all facets of different family relationships, while these two girls grow up and try to discover their true identities. In addition to the typical family dramatics, there is a twist -- Daphne is deaf. A lot of the show is done in ASL (American Sign Language) without any spoken dialogue or sound. It's a new concept that the show uses to great effect, really taking you into the world of Daphne and her friends and giving a new angle to typical teenage angst. The show also stars Lea Thompson, Constance Marie and Gilles Marini.

I learned about the show after I was contacted by their costume department to provide some of my Peggy Li Creations handmade jewelry to the show. I have had a lot of jewelry worn on TV, but I'm so glad I got the opportunity to work with this amazing cast and crew and find out about this jewel of a show.
